    Florida Council on Aging/Florida Power & Light Quality Senior Living Awards Nomination Form 2026

    Now Accepting Nominations—Apply Today. Closes, June 12, 2026

    Make time today to acknowledge an individual or organization who has made outstanding contributions to a senior's quality of life.  Nominate them for one of the most prestigious awards in Florida's professional aging network - the Florida Council on Aging/Florida Power & Light Quality Senior Living Awards (FCOA/FPL QSLA).

    The purpose of FCOA/FPL QSLA is to recognize individuals and organizations whose efforts have improved the quality of life of older Floridians.  The accomplishments of the individual or organization should:  

    • Benefit Florida's older adults 

    • Be deserving of statewide recognition                                                                        

    Award CategoriesAll nominees must meet the general criteria stated above and the specified criteria stated for each category below:

    Dr. Carter Osterbind Outstanding Member Award: The nominee must be a Florida Council on Aging member in good standing, who has demonstrated statewide service and support of FCOA, whose activities on behalf of older adults in Florida reflect a high level of individual commitment or high standard of organizational excellence, and must have statewide impact. Nominees may be individuals or organizations (nonprofit, public or for-profit).

    Service to Seniors by an Organization Award: The nominee must be a business, private or public organization that does not have service to older adults in Florida as its primary focus. The description of the organization’s activities must reflect the monetary value and/or human capital (volunteer or staff time) associated with the services provided to seniors. Organizations can nominate themselves.

    Senior Vision Media Award: The nominee must be an individual or organization that has created special news coverage campaigns to promote a positive image of aging.  Examples: news stories or series with an extended storyline, across-the-board social media products, wide-ranging radio and public service announcements, videos, advertisements, billboards, books, and posters.

    Public Service Award: The nominee must be a volunteer of any age in Florida, in which the area of service includes: seniors in service to seniors, youth in service to seniors or seniors in service to youth. Nominees can be individual or organization.

    Session: It’s More Than a Light Bill

    Session Description: Presented by Melvin A. Philpot, Senior Products & Services Manager for Duke Energy. When most people think about a light bill, they see a number at the bottom and a due date. But that bill represents much more than electricity, it reflects how we live and use the appliances in our home. Discussion also includes changes or upgrades to make to reduce energy usage, increase comfort and make better decisions to save money.

    The session will take place on Tuesday, June 9th from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM EST
